TD Uptown Live Goes Virtual

New Westminster’s popular summer music festival, TD Uptown Live, is coming to your living room later this month! The Uptown Business Association of New Westminster has announced that the 2020 festival will be presented virtually.

Launched in 2012, TD Uptown Live regularly draws thousands to Uptown New Westminster each July and has gained a reputation for showcasing top BC-based indie music artists.

Fans of Uptown Live will be able to access the two-hour virtual broadcast on Saturday, August 22 starting at 6 pm through both Uptown Live website and Facebook page.

The performances will be recorded live at New West’s Massey Theatre and will feature BC artists Ezra Kwizera, Krystle Dos Santos, Brass Camel, Fionn, Colleen Rennison, Mazacote and Warren Dean Flandez.

Full performances by each artist will be released daily from August 23 to 29 for a week of live music broadcast directly to fans and viewers on the Uptown Live website.

“Uptown Live is an important event, not only to the Uptown New Westminster business area, but to the BC Music industry. After having to cancel this year’s summer festival due to COVID-19, we decided to reimagine the event,” said Bart Slotman, Board President, Uptown Business Association, adding, “there was an urgency to make something happen to shine a light on the incredible creators in our backyard and the businesses in our community while ensuring people are safe and healthy.”

TD Uptown Live Virtual Edition 2020 is being presented by the Uptown Business Association with the support of the City of New Westminster, Creative BC, the Province of British Columbia and the TD Bank Group.

Uptown Live has become a beloved summer event in our city and I’m happy our community can still experience it online,” said Mayor Jonathan Cote, City of New Westminster. “Thank you to the Uptown Business Association for working to put on this unique concert event for everyone to enjoy.”
