We recently checked out Sennheiser’s Momentum in-ear headphones, the latest in the Momentum product lineup. Out of all the in-ear models we’ve test driven to date, these offer by far the cleanest, crispest sound quality. Thanks to the extra-small sound tunnel, the acoustics offered in this portable earphone are top-notch.
Out of the box, you get the earphones, a user guide, hard case and extra ear sleeves.
– Nano-precise stainless steel sound tunnel
– Three-button multifunction remote with integrated hands-free microphone
– 15° ergonomic adjustable angle
– Includes four ear sleeves to fit any ear size (XS, S, M, L)
– 1.3 meter elliptical cable minimizes tangling
– Gold-plated jack; plastic-free acoustic components
– Weighs 16 grams
We plugged these into both an iPhone 6 and Macbook Pro and were immediately surrounded by rich stereo-quality sound. It’s hard to see, but the left and right ear piece are differentiated by three raised dots on the left and an “R” on the right.
The raised series of dots on the left seems to be the trend in marking earphones. I wouldn’t mind a more visible way to tell them apart as I’ve mentioned in other earphone reviews, or at least see the dots raised a bit higher, but I’m guessing that people are used to this and just go with the flow.
Music functions include play/pause, play next/previous song, fast-forward/rewind and press and hold middle button for two seconds for voice control.
You can also accept/end a call, accept an incoming call and put an active call on hold, reject a call and accept an incoming call and end the active call, all from the remote.
We do like that the buds fit snugly in the ear and don’t pop out when on the move. As well, others won’t be disturbed in public places as the sound doesn’t travel outside the earbuds.
Sennheiser’s known for their superior craftsmanship across their product line and the Momentum meets that criteria hands-down. The headphones are available in both red and black and are made of high-quality stainless steel.
The included dust-proof, zipped padded case keeps the ear buds, remote and plug nearly protected inside their own grooved spaces. Lifting up the main component divider reveals two extra ear sleeves and the gold-plated jack.
Compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod, Samsung Galaxy, LG, HTC, Sony and other devices, Sennheiser’s Momentum In-Ear headphones come with a two-year warranty and retails for $119.99 online and at major Canadian retailers.
