2014 Spring Collection Preview-6 2014 Spring Collection Preview-3

Yesterday morning, I was invited to a sneak peek of Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic’s 2014 spring line “Sea Meets Street“, together with other local media. Heather Hopkins, Gap Inc.’s Director of Public Relations, showed us a few of the nautically-themed lines that feature stripes, dots, florals, and other fun motifs, from jackets to summery dresses.

Jeans will receive some added colour, tie-dye effects, as well as a navy bandana print, while hats will see a cute nautical rope detail.

Pieces are given personality with splashes of colour and detailing throughout the lines. Sequined tanks, tasseled drawstring bucket bags, zippered cases, and floppy straw hats are some of the fun items in both Gap and Old Navy spring collections.

Coral is a huge colour throughout the spring lines. These are pieces that can be mixed and matched and are versatile to wear from day to evening for our laid-back, west coast lifestyle.

I especially like the use of bright beads on this bold and smart nautically-striped Banana Republic tank blouse.

Yellow and navy are both prominent colours for spring 2014. The navy trench coat is lovely and classic without being fussy.

January to March will see the collections appearing in all three stores.

Finnish designer Rebekka Bay has been on board with Gap as Creative Director for the past 18 months, creating several key pieces with a minimal, modern design aesthetic.

Men’s pieces are also part of the collection, with beige and navy-themed items, including 2-ply signature cotton chinos, summer-weight sweaters, and washed linen shorts.

Here’s to a sunny and warm spring ahead with great clothes to match!
