Skoah Hopeful Hand Gala

Last night I attended the Hopeful Hand Gala, a charity event created by Skoah, a Canadian skincare company. The event was held at Skoah’s Yaletown location.

Hopeful Hand helps both the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and Alberta Children’s Hospital by supporting the parents of ill and terminally ill children at their facilities.

Only 125 tickets (at $125 each) were available. A silent auction and balloon raffle also helped to raise funds towards this event’s goal: The expansion of family unit care at BC Children’s Hospital.

Every purchase of Hand Love lotion at one of Skoah’s retail stores (or online), goes towards The Hopeful Hand Foundation.

The gala’s theme was Mad Men, bringing out smart 60’s fashion to Yaletown’s Hamilton Street.

Michael Eckford and Fiona Forbes of Urban Rush hosted the evening.

Several excellent Vancouver restaurants were set up in smaller rooms, serving up tasty appetizers while a full oyster bar held court outside, courtesy of Granville Oyster Company.

Cleverly named Mad Men-themed cocktails Betty_Bot and Dick Whitman were very popular. I liked the Betty_Bot, but switched to white wine once I discovered the oysters outside.

Girl on Wax DJ Leanne kept the crowd entertained. I found the store space well utilized for an event of this capacity!
