Miss604.com is celebrating 10 years of blogging this month and you’re invited to the party! Join founder Rebecca Bollwitt on November 13 at The Belmont in downtown Vancouver for a reception, refreshments, drink specials, music, and amazing raffle prizes benefitting Covenant House Vancouver. Here’s what Rebecca had to say about her big milestone anniversary:
“Initially I wasn’t going to mark my blogging anniversary at all but thanks to family and friends, I realized that it is a pretty big milestone that deserves to be celebrated.”
“I’ve had so much fun blogging over the last decade, and I’ve managed to turn it into a full time job. However, the cherry on top is that I’ve been able to provide advice to others in the same field, share my knowledge in the two books I co-authored, and my fantastic readers have supported numerous local causes through online and live campaigns in which I have participated.”
According to Rebecca, it was a no-brainer to have her party support a local organization and Covenant House is very worthy of this benefit.
Covenant House’s Crisis Program takes in homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 24. They provide food, shelter, clothing, and counselling to the estimated 700 street youth living in Vancouver at any given time. Most of the young people they help have fled abuse at home or have aged out of the foster care system. Last year, over 1,375 young people accessed Covenant House’s services.

I’ve known Rebecca for several years now, through the 2010 Olympics, Twestival, and learning about her blog at a talk she gave at SFU during one of my editing courses. I recall having even won a dining contest she ran before that!
