I’m posting this on behalf of several friends who have sent me this urgent call to action.

We need good public media to keep Canada connected, yet the upcoming budget could contain massive cuts to the CBC. The proposed $110 million cut represents the majority of the cost of providing CBC radio, and much more than the current budget for all of CBC’s digital programming. This dramatic cut will damage our news, culture, and digital economy.

Within the last week, over 25,000 Canadians have signed an emergency petition organized through Reimagine CBC to oppose these cuts. Now they will deliver them directly to key Conservative MPs before the budget is tabled to show them that people in their riding oppose the cuts.

This Thursday, March 22, Canadians will join a cross country action to deliver an emergency petition to local Conservative MPs urging against these severe budget cuts to the CBC. Join in, support, and take action.
