IDS West 2011 is currently in full swing, with tickets still available both at the Vancouver Convention Centre West (lower level) and online.

I covered a few highlights of the show earlier in the week, but having been to the show two times (opening night, and GE Monogram Trade Day) already, I now have a list of favourites not to miss if you’re planning on heading down this weekend.

With so much eye candy to take in, it’s hard to pick just a few, but I’d be happy to house any one of these gorgeous design pieces!

Trash bonbon

TRASHbonbon’s cylindrical concrete and glass table is just too cool, with its eye-catching graffiti. Not just any graffiti, but TRASHbonbon uses local artists for all of its furnishings and accessories. Urban art meets your work space.

Aloe Blossom light designed by Jeremy Cole

The Aloe Blossom light, on display with a collection of designer lighting presented by Audi, is a gorgeous piece. New Zealand designer Jeremy Cole gave a talk this afternoon, discussing the creative process behind his work.

Dutch design firm moooi (mooi means “beautiful” in Dutch – they just had to add an extra o in there for some Dutch humour) brought out the horse lamps (I’d seen these last year at Joey Burrard) and pig table. You’ve got to see these pieces in person. The photos don’t do them justice.

I also happen to love these Blu Concept sinks!

IDSWest 2011 Trade Day-51

As well, don’t miss the L41 220 square foot modular home, proudly displayed towards the rear of the trade show floor, and the swish Audi VIP Lounge, for its incredibly simple yet stunning use of corrugated white paper and lighting effects, complete with Molo design seating inside.

Several of Molo’s pieces are now part of museum and gallery collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
