I just received the new Griffin Outfit Ice case for the iPhone4 and thought I’d take it for a spin.

Compared to a bumper case I’d recently used on the phone, this one is a winner right out the box: It’s lighter and all of the ports remain exposed for ease of use.

The Outfit Ice comes in red, blue, black, and bright pink. The case comes in two pieces that firmly snap together.

You simply lay the iPhone into the bottom portion and click the top rim all around until it’s solid.

Its texture and matte finish feel soft to the touch and the grip feels like I’ve got the phone solidly in my hand.

My personal measure of a case’s success is whether it will automatically launch iTunes using a retractable USB that lives on my Apple Cinema Display. Some cases contain port openings that cover the port in a way that prevents this from happening. This one didn’t cause any problems. Awesome.

I also found no problems taking photos with the camera. The hole on the back of the case doesn’t seem to cause any issues with flash usage.

Overall, I’d recommend this product for its ease of putting on (and taking off) the phone, its weight, and solid design.

The Outfit Ice retails for US $29.99.

I love the colour! Hope to get the iPhone soon (!) so I can get a case like this.

This one will blow my Apple bumper out of the water! Think I’ll wait to see what else comes down the road. There’s not that many to choose from just yet. This one does look cool though in black.

Looking good. I’m a fan of Griffin products. I’m not going to update my 3GS just yet, but when I do, I know what will work for me. Hot pink, please! Just took a look at the link to their site. Nice.

When I read about this case a little while back, I think red and blue were the only colors available. I guess black and pink were sure bets. Thanks for your post! Nice close-up shots.

I bet they’ll come out with more colors. I can see from the sharp design of this case that it’ll be a big seller for Griffin.

I like this case a LOT. I live in San Diego and when the iPhone4 came out, I was ready to get another Griffin case, because I was so happy with my 3GS Elan Form.

Looks like a basic, yet solid case. Too bad I don’t have an iPhone as I’d consider picking one up.

    Chris –

I’m hoping to review a couple more cases down the road. I had this case around Squamish all weekend and it still looks great (just a little dusty on the screen due to the wind blowing everything in sight on Saturday). The grip is crazy comfortable in the hand too.
