Helly Hansen-21

Here in Vancouver, we’re so excited for warmer temperatures and a chance to explore more of our local coastal mountains this spring and summer. Helly Hansen has a new collection of outerwear to greet the longer (hopefully sunnier!) days ahead. We chose several pieces from their lineup to showcase for our 2020 spring preview.

Urban Catalina Jacket

Helly Hansen’s Urban Catalina is an easy-going, stylish jacket that also happens to be 100% waterproof, making it ideal for wet coast adventures through spring and summer!

This one features fully-taped seams, an adjustable hood that stows away in its own zippered compartment, inner pocket for essentials, hand pockets with zippered closure, and HELLY TECH®’s two-layered protection fabric.

The front zipper is large and sturdy (all three zippers have their own pull tabs). We like the open back flap that allows for breathability on hikes and bike rides.

It’s available in Aluminum, Forest Nigh and Navy, in sizes S to XXL; CAD $180/USD $160

Verglas Light Hoodie

The ultra-soft Verglas Light Hoodie contains wicking properties to help move sweat away from the body, so you can work out wherever and whenever the mood takes you.

The drawstring hood is perfect for cool mornings, layered under a denim jacket or vest too.

The oxblood model we received is a super versatile colour that pairs nicely with black, denim, white and khaki. It’s also ideal for flights, when you need a light layer to keep warm.

Key Features

– Super soft 205g fabric with elastane
– Flat drawcord adjustment in hood

Lia Dress

This cute semi-technical, lightweight dress is made of 50% recycled polyester, 40% polyester and 5% wool and can easily transition from a day hike to a night on the town! I’ve become such a fan of navy over the past few years that this one’s going to easily integrate into my wardrobe.

The bold pattern includes leaves, diamonds, acorns and spring buds, in pink, lighter blue, off-white and peach. I only wish the dress had side pockets, but it will travel brilliantly amongst my sandals, ankle boots, cardigans and jackets.

The Lia comes in a Navy print, in sizes XS to XL; CAD $80/USD $70

Evie Jacket

Similar to the men’s Urban Catalina, the Evie Jacket has a ventilation panel (but in front) for breathability without overheating.

It’s fully water- and wind-proof and contains fully-taped seams. When wearing the jacket, the adjustable hood doesn’t stay put as much as I’d like it to (even when adjusted) and could benefit from a neck adjustment toggle in back.

The style is super cute though and has a drawstring hem, main front zipper, zippered hand pockets (an inner pocket like the Urban Catalina would be welcome), HELLY TECH® Protection and a PFC-free DWR treatment.

Helly Hansen Evie Jacket

It’s also lined with two-layer construction and comes in Grey Fog, Forest Nigh and Navy, in sizes XS to XL; CAD $180/USD $160
