Last weekend, the crowd was in full swing to celebrate all things seafood with the team at WildTale Coastal Grill, located in the heart of Yaletown’s busy culinary corridor.

Feasting on plates of lobster, scallops, prawns, local oysters, meats and a fully-stocked salad bar, guests clinked glasses of prosecco to ring in one year of John Crook and Erik Heck’s newest restaurant endeavour.

The duo are also behind the three incredibly successful Flying Pig restaurants around the city (Gastown, Yaletown, Olympic Village). Each bring a varied background of kitchen wizardry: John was Sous Chef at Glowbal Grill and worked alongside Thomas Haas and Emad Yacoub while Erik earned his wings at Joe Fortes and later Glowbal Group’s Italian Kitchen.

WildTale Coastal Grill features fresh seafood, meats, gorgeous locally-sourced salads, alongside an amazing wine selection (we were wowed by Salt Spring Winery’s Pinot Gris) and craft beers.

The interior is friendly and relaxed, combining an open kitchen and bar space down a long wooden counter. Judging by the delicious food we enjoyed, we’re betting on many more anniversary celebrations to come.
