This morning, Live Nation and Squamish Valley Music Festival launched the 2014 festival lineup at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom. This year, the three-day celebration of music will see an increase in both space (32 acres to 81) and attending artists (42 in 2013 to an estimated 69 leading up to the August 8 to 10 weekend).

According to Paul Runnals, Squamish Valley Music Festival Executive Producer and Vice‐President of brand.LIVE, “Our campgrounds and Festival site have been expanded and we’ve worked very hard to ensure that this year’s experience will be efficient, safe and enjoyable for all involved. We’ve engaged the best in the business to ensure that Festival-goers will be able to enter and exit the event smoothly and any impact to Squamish residents will be minimized as much as possible.”

The team’s been busy reviewing plans to ensure that SVMF adheres to industry best practices, including waste management, traffic system organization, and safety for everyone.

Eric Hofman, Live Nation Canada’s Vice-President of Talent, added, “This year’s programming will speak directly to these fans. The line-up represents exactly what is happening in music at this moment and will feature an amazing mix of artists from around the globe alongside the best emerging talent from our own backyard. We couldn’t be prouder of who’s coming to our party.”

The event will also introduce the use of an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)-enabled wristband system. Ticket holders will receive their RFID wristband via registered mail in the weeks leading up the event and must register online to activate it. The RFID system will allow for smoother, more efficient access at gates, faster processing for all onsite transactions and will allow Festival staff to better assist guests.

“Guests can load their RFID wristband with credit prior to entering the festival grounds, and will have multiple options to add credit if necessary.”
