Dress by Aorta by Rimpy Sahota

Start your Diwali Fest with a strut down the red carpet at the IndiGlam Fashion Social. This event will showcase the evolution of Indian art to incorporate contemporary and Western fashion. Fusion fashion is currently taking the red carpet by storm.

A staple element of Diwali celebrations in both Eastern and Western societies, the IndiGlam Fashion Social will arrive as Vancouver’s newest social signature event. From clothing to jewelry and accessories, the show will portray the glamour, poise, and elegance of men’s and women’s fashion through a two‐hour fashion and social extravaganza.

Designers will include Rimpy SahotaRidhi Mehra, Dolce & Gabbana, Canali, Hugo Boss, Armani Collezioni, and Bhana Design Company, with make-up and hair design by Pink Orchid Studios. I chose to highlight Rimpy Sahota ahead of this inaugural event.

Aorta by Rimpy Sahota
As a Canadian women’s wear designer, Rimpy Sahota finds true passion in exploring her unique vision through her various designs and collections. Devoting the majority of her time to forecasting, buying, and designing, as well as constantly finding inspiration through the Asian and European arts, Rimpy specializes in feminine, free‐flowing designs and silhouettes.

Most recently, Rimpy contributed her expertise and creativity to Groupe Dynamite in Montreal. Focusing on women’s ready‐to‐wear garments with just the right amount of fashion‐forward appeal, Rimpy’s garments are suitable for the everyday, fashionable woman. Each one of Rimpy’s designs remain consistent in their reflection of quality and authenticity, often including pleats, darts, slits, and back detailing.

Well‐known South Asian men will also strut their stuff on the runway, sporting Dolce & Gabbana, Canali, Hugo Boss and Armani Collezioni. Models include Gopi Sian, RJ1200’s popular radio host and Director of South Asian Arts; Dean Atwal, actor and JoyTV videographer; Gurj Dhaliwal, renowned chef; Jason Sarai, co‐founder of 1Karma Events and Professional Image Consultant; and Kallol Mitra, actor and technical director at Electronic Arts.

The evening will feature wines by Desert Hills Estate Winery with music by DJ A‐Slam. Visit the Diwali Fest website for more information.
