CND Nails Introduces Glacial Illusion for Winter

We may only be into the first half of November, but Vancouver’s already gotten a taste of wintery weather, with a fine dusting of powder on our local mountains and a bit of wet snow in the city. And in honour of winter, CND Nails has launched its Glacial Illusion collection.

The six colours (four shimmery pastels and two opaque blue hues) are appropriately named Ice Bar, Cashmere Wrap, Radiant Chill, Alpine Plum, Mystic Slate and Winter Nights.

CND has produced the series for both SHELLAC™ and VINYLUX™ formulas. If you’re not familiar with these two, SHELLAC™ is high-performance, lasts 14 days and is cured using an LED lamp while VINYLUX™ is a weekly polish that’s fast-drying and delivers seven days of chip-resistant wear.

At the very Instagrammable Prép Beauty Parlour down on Burrard and Pacific, CND Nails reps and manicurists provided colour advice and mani sessions using the six shades.

I’d had my eyes on the Alpine Plum but the deep blue of Winter Nights looked better on my nails (I’m glad I tried both before committing to having both sets of digits painted!).

To add some holiday sparkle to Winter Nights, I had a coat of Ice Bar added before the top coat.

Ice Bar has a reddish hue with sparkles in it, so any colour will gain a bit of red once it’s applied. I’ve been told that Ice Bar on its own is quite lovely too and look forward to playing with more colour combinations at home.

Another addition to the CND family is a trio of SHELLAC™ top coats: Pearl, Glitter and Matte. Using one of these will add dimension and either sparkle, radiance or a matte finish to your colours. They too offer 14-day wearability.

Pearl gives off a pearlescent radiance, Glitter contains a mix of micro red, blue and green sparkle and Matte seals colour with a silky smooth finish.
