Chewies Steam & Oyster Bar is proud to present the Third Annual Shuck It Forward oyster shucking competition and fundraiser benefiting Bikers For Autism Society.
On Sunday, May 28, 24 of North America’s best oyster shuckers will compete for $2,500 in cash prizes, entry and return airfare to compete in the 54th Annual Tyne Valley Canadian Championships in Prince Edward Island as well as the official ‘BFA Shuck It Forward’ trophy.
Last year, Shuck It Forward raised over $22,000; this year’s goal is $30,000. Funds raised will go to support the BFA/Music Heals Music Therapy Program at the Pacific Autism Family Centre, the Surf’s Up for Autism Camp in Tofino, Little Heroes Hockey Academy, the BFA Respite Night, and BFA Ambassador Programs.
Bikers For Autism founder James Baker is humbled by all the generous support. “Each year it just gets bigger and better. There are so many amazing local businesses that sponsor us or donate items. They literally help us raise thousands and we couldn’t do it without them!”
The festivities include a silent auction, the chance to win a stocked wine cellar, awards for the People’s Champ Seafood/Clam Chowder and for the Best Motorcycle, live music by Tim Sars Trio & special guests, a beer tap takeover by Strange Fellows Brewing and Parkside Brewery and specialty cocktails.
