The Rotary Club of Lions Gate invites you to come celebrate Canada Day at Waterfront Park!
Every year on Canada Day, the green-blue backdrop of North Vancouver’s Waterfront Park shines with red and white. Maple leaf flags wave proudly in the summer breeze as the Canadian spirit weaves through the crowd.
North Vancouver’s Canada Day celebration, hosted these last 27 years by the Rotary Club of Lions Gate, takes care to recognize our Canadian history and culture. In the past, these have included celebrating BC’s 150th birthday in 2008, Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Flag in 2015.
This year, Rotary’s Canada Day celebration adopts the theme of Canada History Week, honouring the 100th anniversary of women’s first right to vote in Canada.
With this history in mind, the North Vancouver Waterfront Park celebration embraces Canada’s identity as a land of equality, inclusion and opportunity. Spotlighting local performers and vendors hailing from varied backgrounds, the celebration will showcase Canada’s rich multiculturalism.
An exciting day has been planned, with a variety of entertainment, food trucks, artisan crafts and activities for the whole family.
This event would not be possible without the hard work of incredible volunteers and the generosity of major supporters — Jim Pattison Subaru North Shore, the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, the Government of Canada and local businesses.
Join in and help celebrate Canada, great moments of our history — and great moments yet to come.
