Pantone books

No designer is without a set of Pantone colour swatch books in their studio. Pantone’s collections and colour ranges have only grown over time, cementing its status as leader in the colour swatch book industry (as if there were ever any doubt!). Pantone has become so popular that there’s a PANTONE Visa Platinum Rewards Card available in five colours, including 18-2120 Honeysuckle, this year’s Pantone Colour of the Year.

Pantone products and books

Lots of cool Pantone products have come around (playing cards, USB sticks, etc.) over time, but now there’s a truly cool product meant to marry with the Apple crowd: an iPhone4 case! Taking advantage of both the rectangular Pantone chip shape and the iPhone’s more squared corners, the collection of eight colour chip cases is going to make a splash this side of the Atlantic in 2011. I was lucky to have been sent an advance case to dress up my iPhone with.

Case Scenario, makers of unique iPhone and laptop cases, have come up with a range of Pantone cases for both the iPhone4 and iPad. So far, the iPad cases are available in black, grey, and two PMS colours. The iPhone4 case range offers a line-up of six colours plus Cool Gray 5, PMS 418 (darker) gray, and black.

The case (mine’s a hot pink PMS 226) is moulded of plastic and features slightly textured side panels for added grip.

It snapped onto my phone pretty easily. Although the case ships with a screen protector, I couldn’t help wishing that the front bevel edge was designed to cover a bit more of the phone’s top edges.

On a plus note, the case allows all ports to be easily accessed.

I plan to add an update to this site once North American distribution is in place. I normally aim to review products that are available to all readers, however I couldn’t pass up the chance to have this hot little case in my hands!

I was sent the Pantone iPhone4 case for the purpose of writing this review.
