From April 12 to 23, Vancouver’s Arts Club Theatre Company will launch Write from the Wings, an in-house program offering brief, self-guided writing residencies.
A number of writers will be hosted at the company’s three venues: The BMO Theatre Centre, Granville Island Stage and Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage.
Aware of the pressures of working from home, the Arts Club aims to provide a quiet environment for writers looking for alternative work spaces. Applications may be submitted until Sunday, March 21 (application info can be found online).
“Though our stages remain dark, we are committed to finding new ways of fostering the creativity of our amazing local artists,” according to Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran. “We are excited to support Vancouver’s writing community by opening our doors in a safe, physically distanced way while we continue to navigate this pandemic.”
Writers can be at any point in their career, and may use the time and space provided to work on any project of their choosing, in any form or medium. Each Arts Club writing space will be physically distanced and equipped with a desk and internet access.
The Arts Club is also taking many safety precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as well as to protect the health and welfare of patrons, artists, staff and volunteers. Successful applicants will be required to read, sign and follow all policies related to health and safety.
