Alternawave with DJ ArianeV

Some of you guys may have noticed that my posts haven’t been as frequent as they’ve been in the past. The pandemic has really taken a toll on events, travel and theatre (though that’s slowly coming back to our fair city).

Back at the start of the year, I got into Twitch and Mixcloud, two popular music (and in the case of Twitch, gaming) streaming platforms by way of a former club I used to frequent in San Francisco that began hosting monthly online events (New Wave City).

Through a shared love and passion for music, I was able to get hooked up with a monthly radio show on Flashback Alternatives Radio (based in Toronto).

While that once-a-month hourly show was great fun to curate and record, I soon felt the itch for more frequent streaming and turned to Twitch at the beginning of March.

Since then, I’ve built my channel and made a ton of great friends, fellow DJs, and likeminded listeners that have made this journey a super pleasant one, which is why I’ve finally decided to share this news with our Vancouverscape community as well.

Find my shows here:
Tuesdays, 8 PM PDT > http://twitch.tv/DJArianeV
4th Thursday of the month, 6-7 PM PDT > flashbackalternatives.com

I also do occasional pop-up shows and artist spotlight streams. If you follow me on Twitch, you’ll get notified when I go live. ❤️

Check out my interview on Sonic Dorms, episode #33 podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you tune into your podcasts!

And please follow me on both Facebook and Instagram for updates and new show info.

As for the genres I spin? Power pop, new wave, alternative, electronic and post-punk tunes (with a bit of ska thrown in for good measure). Fave bands include Devo, Buzzcocks, The Cars, Magazine, Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Hüsker Dü, XTC, The Fall, The Ramones, Undertones and Joy Division, but I have thousands more songs to play for you all! Hope to see you there!

BTW, I still blog regularly about travel (soon!), tech and lifestyle here.
