Mother’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to spoil your Mom, mother-in-law (or even grandma) with a little something special. Jo Malone London offers a variety of gorgeous scents in several ranges, including fruity, floral, woody, spicy and citrus blends.
Britain’s most famous fragrance brand is also known for pairing unusual ingredients to create one-of-a-kind scents. From what I’ve read, Jo Malone has been obsessed with fragrance since childhood, the seed permanently planted when she created perfumes combining flowers from the family’s garden with Camay soap.
She’s also worked as florist; the business took off after meeting her husband Gary at the age of 19.
Whenever I visit Jo Malone’s in-store boutiques at Holt Renfrew and Nordstrom’s, I’m faced with so many amazing scents (currently 21 with a new rare tea-infused collection to hit Canada shortly) that choosing just one can be challenging. Luckily I was given a couple of cologne samples on my most recent visit to help narrow down the selection for this feature — two fruity blends, one citrus.
Each Jo Malone purchase is beautifully gift wrapped in a classy pale yellow box tied with a big black ribbon, the brand’s trademark packaging.
Citrus
Lime Basil & Mandarin
Jo Malone’s signature fragrance, this modern blend opens with lime and mandarin notes followed by peppery basil and aromatic white thyme. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and slightly citrusy for a fresh start to the day.
Fruity
English Pear & Freesia
Imagine ripe, delicate pears and white freesias combined with amber and patchouli. This gorgeous cologne somewhat reminds me of the West coast with its subtle woodsy notes.
Nectarine Blossom & Honey
This fine spring scent is described as “London’s Covent Garden early morning market”. The lovely scent contains sweet Acadia honey, peach, nectarine and delicate spring flowers. On an aromatherapy note, I feel happy every time I apply this sweet scent.
All three are available in 30ml (CA $80) and 100ml ($155) bottles and can be purchased online at jomalone.ca as well as at Nordstrom’s and Holt Renfrew stores across North America.
Jo Malone collections also include an herbal range and home line featuring diffusers, room and linen sprays plus an amazing assortment of home, deluxe and luxury candles to compliment their colognes.
It’s also worth exploring their ultra sensual, black-bottled Cologne Intense range (Oud & Bergamot, Velvet Rose & Oud, Saffron, Orris & Sandlewood, Dark Amber & Ginger Lily, Tuberose Angelica, Incense & Cedrat). I was particularly captivated by two of those colognes, Dark Amber & Ginger Lily and Tuberose Angelica, for their incredibly fine, enveloping aromas.
