The Word on the Street, an annual national book and magazine festival, will take place on Sunday, September 25, 2011, from 11 am to 5 pm. Now in its 17th year, there’s a wealth of activities to enjoy, including performances, author readings, and exhibits, all in celebration of literacy and the spoken word.
Both Library Square and CBC Plaza are where to head for the action. All events are free.
The Word on the Street Vancouver promotes reading and literacy throughout our community. Literacy Lane (located on Hamilton Street) will host a Family Literacy Tent, where you can find information and fun for all ages. Children should be encouraged to develop a fondness for reading, and this festival helps “get the word out”.
